The Spanish pharmacy profession reached the end of 2022 with 79,288 members and 22,220 community pharmacies, adding 1,160 new pharmacists and 20 more pharmacies to this network of healthcare centres.
This is reflected in the "Statistics of Members and Community Pharmacies" report, a detailed overview of the pharmaceutical profession in Spain, which CGCOF produces every year.
These figures confirm the growth that the pharmaceutical profession continues to experience in all its areas of professional activity and that responds to the need to reinforce the preventive and healthcare capacity of the National Health System.
The vast majority of pharmacists work in community pharmacies, hospitals, the pharmaceutical industry and distribution, public health, research and clinical laboratories.
