Health data exchange must be effective, both because of its confidential nature and its contribution to healthcare, as well as to research for treatments and disease prevention. Besides, the importance of effective regulation and implementation of a system that enables the secure cross-border exchange of health data is beyond dispute.

The value of health data for patients, health systems and health professionals was one of the conclusions of the round table discussion held in 23rd CNF.

Participants in the debate included Marta Galipienzo, Vice-President of the General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain, Ilaria Passarani, Secretary General of the European Pharmaceutical Association (PGEU) and Juan Carlos García and Belén Hurtado de Llera and David Asturiol, both from the European Commission (DG Connect and DG Santé).
