The General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain, in collaboration with healthcare company Organon, launches a health campaign to raise awareness among the population and health professionals about sex and gender differences in health, aiming to reduce inequalities, avoiding biases in treatment and adapting health care.

The initiative included a preliminary survey of a representative sample of community pharmacies throughout Spain, which revealed that women continue to be the main carers within the community and one in two visits to the pharmacy for medicines are to take care of other people, such as children or elderly dependents.

This contrasts significantly from men, who seek out pharmacies on behalf of other people only 30% of the time.
