The 54,972 pharmacists working in Spain's network of 22,231 community pharmacies are established as the healthcare professionals closest and most accessible to patients.
This is according to the report “Statistics on Registered Pharmacists and Community Pharmacies,” which is compiled each year by the General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain and reflects the status and evolution of the pharmaceutical profession over the last twelve months.
These figures show that, for another year, pharmacists and community pharmacies are now the most numerous healthcare professionals and structures in primary care, whose intervention complements and reinforces the work carried out by 30,838 family doctors in 10,003 local clinics and 3,055 health centers, according to the latest data published by the Ministry of Health (2023).
