The network of community pharmacies reached a total of 22,222 health centres in 2023 where 55,254 pharmacists carry out their work as health care providers.
These figures appear in the report ‘Statistics on Members and Community Pharmacies 2023’, that consolidates Pharmacy and the pharmacist as the closest and most accessible resource in Primary Care, in addition to the more than 13,000 Primary Care centres.
The report highlights Spain's 80,295 registered pharmacists. Currently, 72% of registered pharmacists in Spain are women and 40% are under 44 years old. Most of those pharmacists (55,254) work in community pharmacy.
